The S-M-C / Super-Takumar 35 mm f/2 is a fast M42-mount wide-angle prime produced by Asahi Optical Co. between 1963 and 1971, with the Super-Multi-Coated (S-M-C) version continuing into the early 1970s. It was the fastest 35 mm lens in the Takumar lineup and came in several optical and mechanical variants, making it a fascinating study for collectors and shooters alike.
The S-M-C Takumar, has a 49 mm filter thread, weighs 240–242 g, and uses a 6-blade diaphragm. It shares the same 8/7 optical formula but is more compact and includes open-aperture metering support in the S-M-C version.
